There is almost no game that came out this generation quite like Deadly Premonition, which is saying a lot in the current copycat nature of the gaming market. While it may not be for everyone, theres no doubt that this Twin Peaks-esque mystery will keep you guessing from start to finish.

The most important and best thing about Deadly Premonition is the magnificent story that it tells. It quickly becomes clear that the whole scenario is very much reminiscent of Twin Peaks and there are also great dialogues between individuals which will captivate the player at all times. The mix of horror and trash is sold very well here. But unfortunately the lousy control and not really well-done appearance may make or break the game for some.

Digitally Downloaded writes "I get why there are critics and gamers out there that could not get into Deadly Premonition. However, by the same token this game exposes exactly why game critics and gamers in general need to stop pretending the only way a game can be worth playing is if it is "fun." Games, like film and literature, can be engaging in any number of reasons, and Deadly Premonition is an example of a game that is engaging because it is intelligent and it asks its players to be intelligent while they're playing it."

It's no secret that Deadly Premonition looks and feels like a PS2 game. It handles like Resident Evil multiplied by FRUSTRATION and the dirge of a screen that appears every time you pick up an item is grating, yes. In fact, the entire survival horror aspect of the game, could be done without. Yes, the enemies are repetitive and yes, killing them is a chore. But it's a small price to pay for the rest of the experience. Because that's what it is.

Deadly Premonition: The Directors Cut takes players into a world both laughable and frightening at the same time. Each element of the game may not be original, but its how director Swery puts them all together that makes Deadly Premonition so unforgettable.

I know a lot of people will probably buy Deadly Premonition to point and laugh at its B-movie presentation, but I implore anyone who hasnt tried the game yet to approach it with an open mind: you may just find out that you actually genuinely like it.
